BMX, Beats and Big Announcements: A Fast Ride with BMX Australia

When BMX Australia came rolling in with a last-minute challenge, Cyrius MediaWorks were more than happy to jump on the pedals and go full throttle.

Their legendary voiceover guy, Paul “Chippa” Chippendale, couldn’t be at the BMX Australia National Championships this year to work his usual live magic. So the solution? Capture that unmistakable voice in the studio and turn it into a high-octane series of pre-recorded announcements to blast out on the day.

Enter Cyrius MediaWorks… We teamed up with the ever-awesome Claire from BMX Australia and got to work choosing a bunch of action-packed tracks from AudioJungle. Think metal, dubstep, rock… the kind of music that makes you want to launch off a ramp and do a backflip (or at least think about it).

Chippa rolled through the studio like the pro he is, nailing all the essential bits: sponsor shout-outs, safety messages, crowd instructions and hype, lots of action-packed hype. We layered his voice over the music, ducking the tracks just enough to make sure every word punched through loud and clear.

Was it last minute? Oh yeah. But with a bit of studio hustle, we recorded, mixed, mastered and uploaded everything to Dropbox just in time to slot them into the playlist, ready for big game day.
